Angioma Removal

Dilated capillary clusters form just beneath the skin surface.

Typical cherry angioma — a benign, bright-red vascular lesion.
Cherry angiomas — also known as Campbell de Morgan spots or cherry hemangiomas — are benign vascular tumors that form when tiny blood vessels cluster beneath the skin. These bright-red or purple bumps are most commonly found on the trunk, limbs, and face. Up to one-third of adults over 30 have at least one, and they tend to multiply with age.
At 86INK, we remove cherry angiomas using the Candela Nordlys® platform with either IPL or Nd:YAG 1064 nm laser technology — selected based on lesion size, depth, and your skin type. Most patients achieve full clearance in just 1–2 sessions with minimal downtime.
Nd:YAG 1064 nm
Penetrates deeper for larger or raised angiomas; safer for medium to olive skin tones (Fitzpatrick III–IV). Your provider selects IPL, Nd:YAG, or a combination at consultation.
Most patients achieve full clearance in 1–2 sessions. Financing available via Cherry.
Skin Type Considerations
Candela Nordlys® IPL is most effective and safest for Fitzpatrick Skin Types I–IV (fair to medium-olive skin tones). The Nd:YAG 1064 nm modality extends safe treatment to Types III–IV with greater confidence. Patients with darker skin tones (Types V–VI) carry a higher risk of post-treatment hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation with IPL. A thorough consultation and Fitzpatrick assessment are required prior to treatment to confirm candidacy and select the appropriate modality.
Why Choose This Treatment?
IPL & Nd:YAG 1064 nm
Nordlys® offers both IPL and Nd:YAG 1064 nm modalities. IPL suits superficial lesions; Nd:YAG penetrates deeper and is safer for medium to olive skin tones.
Seconds Per Lesion
Each cherry angioma takes only a few seconds to treat. Multiple lesions can be addressed in a single brief session with no incisions.
Minimal Downtime
The lesion turns dark after treatment — a normal response — then fades or falls off within 1–2 weeks. No bandages or extended recovery.
Board-Certified Provider
All treatments are performed by a board-certified Nurse Practitioner with advanced laser training and Fitzpatrick skin-type expertise.

How It Works
- 01Consultation to assess lesion size, number, location, and Fitzpatrick skin type — and to select IPL vs. Nd:YAG 1064 nm.
- 02Cooling gel applied to the treatment area for comfort and skin protection.
- 03Candela Nordlys® IPL or Nd:YAG handpiece delivers a precise pulse of light to each angioma — each lesion takes only seconds.
- 04Hemoglobin (IPL) or oxyhemoglobin (Nd:YAG) in the vessel absorbs the energy, generating heat that collapses the capillary walls.
- 05The treated angioma turns darker (gray or brown) immediately after — this is a normal and expected response confirming successful targeting.
- 06Over 1–2 weeks, the darkened lesion gradually fades or forms a small crust that falls off as the body clears the coagulated vessel.
- 07Most patients achieve full clearance in 1–2 sessions; a follow-up is scheduled if needed.
